Who in the Pimax company is the expert of the grinding process of Aspherical lenses? What would it require to reduce the weight and size of aspheric lenses?
Pancake lenses may be new, hip, and trendy but they’re prone to glare and brightness loss and it seems only aspheric lenses provide such immersive visual quality thanks to zero glare or godrays. However aspheric lenses can be big and bulky.
I feel pancake lenses are stacked for magnification therefore light bounces through each layer which probably is what causes the excess. Tell me if I’m wrong.
Many people are enjoying the smaller HMDs like the BigScreen beyond but it comes at a serious price with those pancake lenses due to the intense stack and magnification.
But in the future I feel something that’s more of a simple singular flat piece lense that way we won’t need several stacks or polarizers.
That way we can get decent small size and ergonomics without such major sacrifices made to the visual quality of those HMDs because that’s crucial to me in vr to feel immersed
